Overview

Using the FibKey FK-1993 fiber matching gel reduces the Fresnel reflection caused by the low-refractive-index air gap between fiber end faces. This gel is transparent, clear, non-flowing, and has a refractive index close to that of the fiber, hence the name matching gel.

Applications:

• Fiber splice connectors, for temporary (e.g. testing or emergency repair) or permanent fiber splices
• V-groove, for temporary splicing during fiber testing, reusable
• Use matching gel to block air reflection when testing the return loss of fiber connectors
• Use matching gel for MT-RJ connector mating
• Fast connectors
• Fiber to the home
