Product Description:
- Low viscosity, meeting the Bellcore high-temperature/high-humidity 85C/85RH 2000-hour requirement
- Low-modulus UV adhesive, flexible, suited to bonding large-diameter thin and easily deformed lenses; good surface figure and low stress, solving problems of deformation and stress-induced figure errors seen with other adhesives , e.g. bonding interferometric lenses with strict figure requirements
- Suited to automotive lenses and other applications requiring high-temperature/high-humidity resistance
- Bonds glass or plastic; suited to fiber-optic components such as fiber arrays (FA), planar lightwave circuit (PLC) splitters, and fiber couplers
- Withstands -125~125°C after aging
NOA86 Standard Packaging - 1-oz bottle, for laboratory and small-scale production
NOA86 is an optically clear adhesive that cures under long-wave UV light and also under visible (blue-violet) light. NOA86 has low viscosity and meets the Bellcore 85/85 high-temperature/high-humidity (Bellcore 85C/85RH) 2000-hour requirement. NOA86 is recommended for bonding glass or plastic. NOA86 cures under UV light at 315-400 nm and visible light at 400-420 nm. Peak absorption wavelengths are 325, 365, and 400 nm, with weaker absorption at 410 and 420 nm ; full cure requires 2.5 J/cm2. For glass bonding, NOA86 withstands -15~90°C before aging. After aging, it withstands -125°C to +125°C. Besides UV cure, NOA 86H, NOA86TLH, and NOA86TH also contain a latent thermal catalyst that quickly cures areas not reached by UV light. The catalyst cures the adhesive at 125°C for 10 minutes in a convection oven , or 80°C for 3 hours. Areas exposed to air remain tacky unless exposed to UV light or cured at 125°C. Below 80°C the adhesive is not activated, except for NOA86HA, NOA86TLHA, and NOA86UVHA , which also cure at 60°C in three hours. The advantage of heat cure is that a partially cured adhesive can be fully cured to reach its physical properties.

Storage Conditions:
Store in original containers, protected from light, at cool temperatures (5-22°C); shelf life is 6 months. If refrigerated, allow the adhesive to warm to room temperature before use. Handle this material with care; read the Safety Data Sheet and related product literature first, including those for alcohol, acetone, or methylene chloride. Avoid prolonged skin contact; wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. If the adhesive gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention. Use in a well-ventilated area; otherwise, an organic-vapor respirator meeting NIOSH requirements is recommended.
